Flooding Update

This week the flood-related problems due to rain storms and raising levels of various rivers have increased.

Train services between Bangkok and Chiang Mai are still disrupted and affected clients will be assisted with booking alternative travel services.

Life in Chiang Mai town is back to normal, but the water level of the Ping River is still very high.

Yesterday the town of Ayuthaya and the World Heritage Site temples got partly flooded which affects the temple tours.

Travel to and from Ayuthaya has become more difficult as well, therefore we recommend clients to adjust their travel plans.

In Bangkok the inner city is well protected, but outer areas and suburbs are getting flooded as the water level of the Chao Phraya River is very high.

The main tourist areas (Grand Palace, Wat Po, etc.) are not affected by flooding and can be visited as usual.

Despite this we are already looking at alternative accommodations and programs in case the riverside area hotels would be affected by flooding.

We recommend clients contact their travel insurance companies as hotels and service providers will unlikely provide refunds for unused and affected services.

Khiri Travel will continue monitoring the situation closely and contact its clients /agents in the near future to keep them updated of any changes in the situation that could impact the current itineraries.
